J&K: Intermittent Rains Persist, MeT Forecasts More Showers

Despite ongoing intermittent rains, the Meteorological Department in Jammu and Kashmir has predicted "fairly widespread to widespread intermittent light to moderate rain" until May 26. According to a meteorological department official quoted by GNS, rainfall data in the last 24 hours until 0830 hours revealed Srinagar received 6.6mm of rain, Qazigund 11.6mm, Pahalgam 20.1mm, Kupwara 5.9mm, Kokernag 21.0mm, Gulmarg 7.8mm, Jammu 0.8mm, Banihal 27.3mm, Batote 42.4mm, Katra 3.4mm, and Bhaderwah 19.4mm.


The forecast for May 25-26 indicates the likelihood of "fairly widespread to widespread intermittent light to moderate rain/thunder/lightning with the possibility of hailstorms and gusty winds in a few places." From May 27-28, intermittent light rain/thunder/lightning is expected in some areas. The meteorological official mentioned that from May 29-30, there is a forecast of "fairly widespread intermittent light to moderate rain/thunder/lightning with the possibility of hailstorms and gusty winds at a few places." The weather conditions in J&K continue to evolve, making this forecast unique in its persistent and varied patterns of precipitation
